I am bringing you the tutorial for the Masterboard I made for the weekly challenge in the Facebook group Junk Journal For everyone. #JJ4Eweeklychallenge This is something new in the group and we are very excited about it. Myself and the lovely Jane Austin are setting these challenges each week. We are doing a different theme each month and the challenges each week will relate to that theme. For this first month we have decided to set the theme as Steampunk/Halloween. I have not incorporated the Halloween aspect into this masterboard just the steampunk.
I have always wanted to make a steampunk themed journal, this is the very first thing I have made so I decided to start with a masterboard. I am using this as a sort of moodboard for the projects to inspire me and get my creativity flowing, I hope by doing this challenge you will also get the steampunk vibe. Measurements and Materials
- I started with some neutral digitals and created a background
- I have used images that are in the public domain so I can scan and reuse
- I then added some steampunk images with are also in the public domain and again I scanned that for future use
- The next step was adding stamping
- Once stamping was added I could not scan anymore due to copyright, but I can always print off my previous scanned masterboard and stamp on them
- Finally I added die cut cogs, buttons and lace
- I used solvent inks and alcohol pens and a sanding block to give the cogs a look of being covered in oil and old
- I wanted the buttons to resemble old brass uniform buttons
- All the steps are shown in my video so do take a look
