I am bringing you another instalment of my new series over on my YouTube channel. It is junk journal series for beginners. Today I am making digital ephemera look authentic. I love old documents but they are not that easy to get hold of so like many people who make Junk Journals I buy digital kits that have collectors of them. These are scanned versions of old documents that you can print out and use. But you print them onto new paper and they lack that genuine, authentic feel. So you have to do things to them to make them look old!
What did I use?
- I printed the documents on Layout Paper.
- This is thin paper, not as thin as tracing paper.
- The pad I bought is 50GSM
- When printed you can see the document from the other side as well
- The documents often show where it would have been folded originally
- I fold along those lines and ink the folds
- I also scrunch up the paper a little and use my blending brushes to ink the ceased edges
- I then used my favourite stamp sets to add age spots, inks splatters and other markings to help it look more aged and authentic
