Thank you for visiting my blog again today, I am bringing you the tutorial for the Smash book layout I made for the Ink & Share Scrapbook blog hop. I am really enjoying participating in this hop, I get loads of inspiration from the other talented members plus I am rediscovering my love of scrapbooking. Recently in a Junk Journal facebook group I am a member of someone asked about Smash books and wanted to see photos of pages that people had done for inspiration. I dug out my book and really enjoyed the memories I had recorded in them. I have had mine years and there is still plenty of room to record more. I love using these type of books as you can just do anything in them. They were designed to be a quick way of putting your memories down. But as in this case you can do more traditional style layouts in them as well.
We had a theme this month of using a punch on our layout and I have used the Ice cream cone builder punch and I did some punch art as well to create a pint glass from the Jar punch and the bottom of the ice cream punch.
My layout shows 2 fun outings with my sons, the first was a visit to York where my youngest lives, we had a lovely day together and got to hug for the first time in nearly a year. We also enjoyed a lovely 2 scoop ice cream in the glorious sunshine. The second is a night out with my oldest son to celebrate Father's Day, been about 10 months since we were together in a pub & out for a meal. We do love a nice pint of beer!
Measurements and Materials
- I cut a sheet of standard card stock down to pit the page
- I used the two off cuts to add a bit of colour to the second page and still allowed the page pattern to show through
- I used the mask to add a bit of interest to the pages by blending Barmy Blue Ink in random places
- I used Playful Alphabet dies to add the titles to the pages
- The punches helped to tell the story
- I did a clever bit of punch art to create the pint of beer
- I made a quick envelope from the 6" x6" DSP
- Score on one side @ 2 1/2" & 5"
- Rotate and score again @ 1 1/2" & 5 1/2"
- I added a punched ice cream and some ribbon to close now i can write my memories privately
- I created a flip out on the other page under the main photo give extra space for more photos and some journalling space
Now watch the video tutorial to see how this was made :-)

Time for the closeups!
I do not like my hand writing so the story of these 2 events are hidden in an envelope, once the ribbon is untied the journalling spot is inside.
I created a flip out so extra photos and journalling space can be added. I will write later about the fabulous glasses in the restaurant. I said if Stampin' Up! made pint pots this is what they would look like! lol
A bit of trial and error and finally managed to create some punc art to look like a pint of beer!
I don't think these books are made anymore but I have managed to pick some up in clearance racks in craft shops.
I hope you like this project and will give it a try. To make sure you don't miss any of my projects why not subscribe to my YouTube channel and subscribe to my newsletter and click the button to follow my blog :-)
I will be back tomorrow, until then ...
