Nigezza Creates aka Gez, Independent Stampin' Up® Demonstrator
Thank you for visiting my blog, I really do appreciate it. Today I am bringing you the tutorial for the project I made for the Stamp 'N Hop Blog Hop, this theme was Anything Goes so I think I have met that theme with my Beeswax Food Wraps! I made some about 18 months ago and always meant to make more but never got around to it. I was prompted to make these pretty ones after a garden visit with a friend on Easter weekend. I noticed she was using cling film, so I said I would make her some beeswax food wraps. Of course I had to decorate the fabric with some beautiful stamping! My friend really likes bright things on the table so Pacific point, Bermuda Bay & Mango Melody were just perfect. Stamps are not just for paper!
Measurements and Materials
- I tested the stamping first because I thought it might run once the wax was added but it was fine
- After stamping all over the square of fabric I placed it on some grease proof paper
- I scattered beeswax pellets on the cloth
- I bought these on Amazon, there are loads to chose from, different sizes and even in a block
- I covered with another sheet of grease proof paper
- Then I ironed on top until all the wax was melted
- I peeled back the grease proof paper, careful not to touch the cloth as it is very hot ...ask me how I know!
- More wax pellets were added to areas where it was not covered
- I then ironed again
- This was repeated until all the cloth was covered
- Once cooled the cloth will stiffen
- It is now ready to use as a food wrap
Now watch the video tutorial to see how this was made :-)
