Hexagonal Origami Desk Tidy

Nigezza Creates aka Gez, Independent Stampin' Up® Demonstrator

Thank you for visiting my blog, I really do appreciate it and hope you like the project and will take a look at the video tutorial as well. Last week my team mate Donna of Taffy Crafting made a hexagonal desk tidy. I had seen this design before but always thought it was too complicated to make. SO I watched her video tutorial and decided to have a go myself. Donna made hers with 6"x6" squares of DSP so was 3" high. I wanted one taller so I have used 8"x8" squares of DSP so mine is 4" tall.  I have reached that time of year where I need to use the DSP I have been hoarding all year so I have been looking for projects to use it! I am so happy with how this turned out. I showed Ed and he wants one now for his desk at work! Looks like I will be making another one! lol

Nigezza Creates with Stampin' Up! & Mosaic Mood DSP a Hexagonal Origami Desk Tidy

Measurements and Materials

  • 6 squares of DSP measuring 8"x8"
  • See video tutorial for how they were folded
  • Each triangle tube was strengthened with some Very Vanilla card stock
    • 1 15/16" x 3 13/16")
  • Each triangle that was made is decorated with the smallest stitched square cut from a matching scrap of card stock and matted with a square of DSP
  • I made a hexagon template and cut a hexagon out of Very Vanilla Card stock to adhere the desk to
  • I covered the gap where all 6 triangles meet with a disc made from a 1" circle of DSP and a 1 1/8" scallop circle
  • The tidy was 4" tall. What ever size of your paper you start with you will end up with a desk tidy that is half that height.

Now watch the video tutorial to see how this was made :-)
