Stampin Up Merry Patterns Birthday Eclipse Card

I wanted to show that a Christmas Stamp set was not just for Christmas! A lot of people are doing eclipse cards at the moment, I decided to do this for my sons birthday card, as I do not have the large letter dies yet I had to do the year he was born rather than his name.  I am very pleased with how the card turned out, although not accepting of having a child who is 26!

The card base is a standard card base A4 cut in half folded I half, this makes a C6 card 5 7/8th x 4 1/8th - this was done using Night of Navy
I cut a mat 1/4 inch smaller on both sides - 5 5/8th x 3 7/8th - - this was done using Whisper White

I used the candles from the Merry Patterns stamp set and stamped a row of candles.
Then I used the second step stamps to fill in the colours

I used the Stylized Birthday sentiment but wanted the words side by side, so I masked off  the birthday and just stamped Happy

I then repeated this for the Birthday making sure the stamped was completely clean otherwise you will get happy stamped as well!

The Large Number dies were then laid in place and cut out using the Big Shot

This was then stuck to my card base

To line up the centres I placed the number back in their place and the stuck the centre down
Once stuck the number were removed and therefore I knew the centres were in the correct place.

Mini dimensionals were punt on the back of each number and they were stuck onto the card.

When sticking down ensure that they are lined up correctly to give that eclipse effect.

To finish off I stamped over the greeting with some splatters from Touches of Texture. This was to cover up some small specs but actually I think it gives the card some balance which enhances the overall affect.

I am really pleased with how this card turned out and am now off to do the same thing for my brother!
