Thanks you for reading my blog today I really do appreciate it. Today I am making a masculine card, not of us struggle with those don't we?!? But this is no ordinary masculine card, its an 80th birthday card ..... help!
Before I started this I looked through my stash to see what I could use, I decided on a neutral colour palette, the Happy Birthday sentiment and that it needed the number the 80 on it, then I saw my Brick wall embossing folder and was reminded of some graffiti I saw on holiday and so the idea formed.
Very Vanilla - 5 3/4x5 3/5 - embossed with the Brick Wall embossing folder |
I used the de-bossed side so the mortar went inwards - I then distressed the wall so it looked as realistic as possible using Soft Sued, I used a brush for this so it was a subtle look and there would e less chance of blobs! Once covered I then used a sponge on the edges to give it a darker edge so it stood out more and I wanted it lighter in the centre so the sentiment showed up more.
I then made a 6x6 card base by cutting a 12x12 sheet of Early Expresso in half and scoring in half and folding in half. The wall was then stuck directly on the base.
I love how its turned out, trouble is so did my sister so now have to make another one for her, thats different, one masculine card it hard enough to dream up!
Cheers for now,
Gez x
