Pootles Retreat Swaps

Watch video tutorial here!

I am so excited to be going on my first Stampin Up retreat with Sam from Pootles and the rest of the team.  I am even more excited to be taking part in swaps!

I am a relatively new demo so have limited current products from the new catalogue (got shed loads of retired products and paper!) so it was important to use minimal products.  I bought a bag of mini Smarties.  Using a sheet of A4 cardstock I cut it in half at 4 1/8 (on the short side) then cut again at 4 1/8 on the long side, cut again and repeated on second piece.  You now have 4 squares (4 /8 x 4 1/8) and 2 spare pieces.

Using the envelop punch board I scored and punched at 2" and 3" and then repeated the punch and score on other sides using the scored lines as a guide to where to punch and score.

Then I created flaps by cutting down the side of the 2 small squares on the smallest pointed sides and notched them.  I then cut approximately 1/2" off the 2 larger pointed ends and applied Tombow to these 2 sections to glue together and form the belly of the box.  The 2 smaller pointed ends were rounded off using the corner rounder on the board and the flaps were folded in and the ends tucked in to form the box.

The Belly band was cut from 12x12 DSP - 2"x5" - so you get 14 out of a sheet.

I then decorated using the balloon punch and a balloon stamp from Happy Birthday Gorgeous but you can decorate how you wish.  I stuck this to the from of the box with a dimensional and added a bow made from bakers twine - I took whisper white twine and coloured it using ink that matched the cardstock I used.

I used Eastern palace DSP
Dapper Denim - Tranquil Tide - Very Vanilla - Lemon Lime Twist cardstock
Matching ink

Stampin Up Planner

I just love my new planner!

Watch the video tutorial here!

I love how I am going to be able to be organised and also creative.  I have used the label punch stamp from Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set to make tiles and arrows for check lists. I have also used the Text Ya Later stamp set for emoji's, speech bubbles and statements. I also cannot wait to get the Tabs for everything bundle to use the icons and tab. I am also thrilled that I found a use for the tabs that are punched out when you use the envelope punch board. I will also be using washy tape to partition the days.

I will show you how my planner develops as time goes on so as they say 'watch this space!'

Tri-Folded Card

I decided to redo one of my first videos - did not intend it to be so long, but it does show my thought process when making cards!

Watch the video here!

I used the same template as before as I am still using an A4 sheet of card stock.

I also used the same dimensions for the matted card stock. (sorry this is on its side) I have put both metric and imperial measurements on the templates.

I used:
Card Stock:
  • Crumb Cake
  • Very Vanilla
Ink:
  • Crumb Cake
  • Powder Pink
Stamp sets:
  • Background Bits
  • Butterfly Basics
Die sets:
  • Butterfly Thinlits

This was a labour of love, I hope you like it, if you want to purchase any items then please visit my shop and don't forget to include the hostess code :-)

Butterflies made easy with Tim Holtz Stamping Platform

I was so excited to finally receive my new Tim Holtz Stamping Platform, I ordered it months ago and had to wait as orders were held up.  I couldn't wait to have a go and decided to use the Water Colour Wings 3 step stamp set as the first go on it.  It makes lining up the stamps so easy and accurate.

I stamped the butterflies and cut them out using the corresponding die.  I then used the platform to stamp 2 of the back ground stamps at the same time.  I then placed the sentiment where I wanted it and stamped this on each card. I created 11 cards backgrounds in less than 15 mins, great for bulk card making.

To create this card I used a standard A6 card and the die cut butterfly, I used my bone folder to curl the wings and stuck it on with dimensional's.  I used 2 on each wing at the top and one on each at the bottom to give it dimension. The colours I used were Powder Pink for the first layer of the butterfly and the background, Flirty Flamingo for the edges of the wings and Berry burst for the middle.  I then used Basic grey for the butterfly body and the sentiment.

I hope my students like the cards.
